Terms & Privacy

Plain-language terms for using Shastra, and how we handle personal data. Last updated 28 September 2026.

Agreement

Shastra is a platform for wellness studios and the people who take their classes. By using it — as a studio or as a student — you agree to these terms. If you use Shastra on behalf of a business, you confirm you may accept these terms for it.

Shastra provides the software. Each studio runs its own business and is responsible for its classes, prices, and policies over them.

Accounts

You are responsible for your account and for keeping your password secure. Give accurate details and keep them current. You may use Shastra as a studio account or a student account; one person may hold both.

Do not misuse the service — no unlawful content, no attempts to access data that is not yours, and no interference with other users or the platform.

For studios

You keep ownership of your studio’s content, branding, classes, prices, and client relationships. You grant Shastra the licence needed to host and display your public page, catalog, and schedule.

You are responsible for the accuracy of what you publish, for complying with the laws that apply to your business, for the taxes you owe, and for the services you deliver and refunds you issue.

Shastra is billed as a subscription. Your plan, its price, and its included features are shown on the pricing page. Your fees are separate from anything your clients buy from you.

For students

You can browse, book, and pay without an account; a student account keeps your bookings, courses, and reviews in one place. When you book with a studio, that studio becomes responsible for your booking, the class you attend, its payment, its refunds, and its policies.

Bookings are subject to each studio’s own cancellation and no-show rules, which you can see with the class.

Payments and refunds

Card payments to studios are processed on the studio’s own payment account, so the studio is the merchant of record and receives the money directly. Shastra charges the studio a platform fee on sales and a subscription for the software; students are never charged extra to book.

Refunds are the studio’s decision and responsibility. Where a refund is issued, it is returned to your original payment method by the studio’s payment provider.

Reviews and content

Reviews may only be written by someone who booked and paid for the class. A review starts private: the studio can respond, and may offer to make things right. If you accept an offer, the review is settled and will not be published; otherwise you may publish it. Studios may reply once, publicly.

Keep reviews honest and civil. Do not post anything unlawful, abusive, or misleading, and do not post someone else’s private information. We may remove content that breaks these terms.

Privacy

We collect what is needed to run the service: your account details, the bookings and purchases you make, and basic technical information such as your IP address for security and to prevent abuse.

A studio you book with can see the details relevant to your booking with them — your name, contact information, and purchase history with that studio. Studios cannot see your activity with other studios. Payment card details are handled by the payment provider and are not stored by Shastra.

We use your information to provide the service, to keep it secure, and to send you messages you have asked for or that are necessary for a booking. You can opt out of marketing messages at any time; messages required to fulfil a booking are still sent.

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or to object to certain uses. To make a request, or if you have a privacy question, contact the studio for anything about your booking with them, or contact us for the platform itself.

Cookies

We use a small number of cookies and local storage entries that are necessary to run Shastra: keeping you signed in, remembering your view preferences, and protecting against abuse. We do not use them to track you across other sites.

Availability and liability

We work to keep Shastra available and reliable, but it is provided “as is” and we do not promise it will be uninterrupted or error-free. To the extent the law allows, Shastra is not liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for the acts and omissions of studios and their staff.

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms as the product changes. When we do, we will update the date at the top of this page. Continuing to use Shastra after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Questions about a booking, a class, or a refund go to the studio you booked with. For questions about Shastra itself, or to exercise a privacy right, contact us through your account or the studio’s help pages.
